Improvisation: A Complement to Curriculum
Ronald, Green A.
Online Submission
With the growth of standardized assessment benchmarks in both the public and private paradigms, testing performance matters to institutions more than ever. In an attempt to take as many hindering variables out of this process, such as test anxiety, socioeconomic influences, and latency in cognition, Improvisation: A Complement to Curriculum seeks to provide an aerodynamic attachment to existing instructional designs intended to warm up the neuro-pathways of synthesis and cognitive response. Through the application of improvisational based ice breakers and exercises with scaleable levels of risk written to approach learning styles as architected by Multiple Intelligence theory, students will develop their natural proficiency for synthesis and recognition in an environment that mimics real-life decision making. One of the challenges with improvisational based methodologies has been data to show measurable growth. With the use of authentic assessment, specifically portfolio and performance models, as well as subsequent traditional testing applications, evidence can be gathered to demonstrate improvement in overall academic achievement with the correct implementation of improvisational methodologies.
