This investigation, which employed a modified quasi-experimental approach, was undertaken to understand usage patterns in instructional podcasting and the impact of instructional podcasting on students and their performance in a community college setting. The experimental course sections included in the pilot study were taught in the fall of 2007. Control group data came from sections of the same course taught by the same faculty person on a similar schedule in the calendar year prior to fall 2007. The utilization results described are for faculty and students. The outcomes considered are course attendance, student withdrawal rates and cumulative grade point averages (GPA). Statistically significant results were found for each outcome considered. Recommendations for the college which served as the research site are included. (Contains 5 tables.)
