Background: Looking at dress code violations and demographics surrounding kids breaking the rules. Purpose: To see if there is a connection between dress code violations and discipline referrals. Setting: Jr. High School; Study Sample: Students with dress code violations for one week; Intervention: N/A; Research Design: Correlational; and Control or Comparison Condition: N/A. Data Collection and Analysis: Collected data for one week at the junior high for dress code violations and collected demographics in the school office. Analyzed data in SPSS. Findings: African American males had the most dress code violations. There was not a significant correlation between dress code violations and discipline referrals. Conclusion: Smart, otherwise well behaved students are not able to keep their shirt tails tucked in and their name tags on.
