Test Scores and Learning Styles: Understanding Student Achievement
Wade, Patricia A.; Schuh, Kathy L.
Online Submission, Paper presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association (San Francisco, CA, 2006)
This two-year study explored the academic lives of three boys in a combined fifth-sixth grade classroom. As these case studies illustrate, viewing students' academic worlds from multiple perspectives can lead to more accurate, comprehensive evaluations and efficacious adaptations of students' learning environments. Richard Snow's aptitude theory and Robert Sternberg's learning styles framework provided frameworks for data analysis and interpretation (Snow, Corno, Cronbach, Kupermintz, Lohman, Mandinach, Porteus, Talbert, 2002; Sternberg, 1997).
