This curriculum guide contains instructional materials for a one- or two-year field-based internship that provides students a background knowledge of child and adolescent development principles and principles of effective teaching practices by allowing students to work under the joint direction and supervision of both a family and consumer sciences teacher and exemplary educators in direct instructional roles with elementary, middle, and/or high school-aged students. Contents include an introduction, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) covered; sample course outlines; instructional strategies organized by TEKS, each containing a resource list, detailed instructions for the teacher to implement the curriculum, and suggested Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America activities; blended activities; creative ideas; lists of 12 resource organizations, 18 print resources, and 55 web sites; 149 teaching aids; and 5 program tools.
