Support from Afar: Using Chemical Safety Information on the Internet.
Stuart, Ralph
One of the major challenges facing people committed to Teaching Safety in High Schools, Colleges, and Universities is keeping up with both the wide range of relevant technical information about potential hazards (ranging from fire protection to chemical hazards to biological issues) and the ever-changing world of safety regulations and standards. It is unlikely that a single individual can keep abreast of this aspect of the science curriculum without access to a library of safety information and a well-developed network of peers with similar interests. Fortunately, the development of the Internet provides a cheap and convenient way of developing and maintaining these resources. This paper will discuss how the Internet can be used as a safety information resource, with a focus on laboratory safety resources. (Author)
