This "Fact Book" is a resource developed to provide policymakers with needed data and information about higher education in South Dakota. It contains data on a variety of subjects in a series of tables and charts. Taken together, these data show that there are more students enrolled in public higher education than ever before, and that enrollments in selected academic programs important to South Dakota have increased. Tables and supporting information are grouped into these categories: (1) "Enrollments, High School Preparation, and Degrees Conferred"; (2) "Tuition and Fees and Student Financial Aid"; (3) "Special Schools"; (4) "Faculty Characteristics, Salary, and Grants and Contracts"; (5) "Technology"; (6) "Facilities and Equipment"; and (7) "Financial Resources."
