Cooperative Education Skill Standards Certificate Program.
Wisconsin State Dept. of Public Instruction, Madison.
This document is intended to serve as a resource for the implementation of Wisconsin's Cooperative Education Skill Standards Certificate Program. Following an introduction there is an overview of the program, school district eligibility requirements, local partner responsibilities, and factors that may present barriers to program implementation. A second major section deals with school-based learning elements such as student selection criteria; agreements or written commitment among all participants; student learning plans and their assessment; and the granting of high school credit. Work-based learning elements, including school policies covering work experience students and workplace mentoring, are covered in a third section. Sample forms useful to cooperative education participants are included, such as agreements; learning plans; student work report and self-evaluation; and parent evaluation. Among ten appendices are the SCANS (Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills) skill competencies and SCANS foundational skills; a recommended outline of classroom instruction; workplace mentor training information; career and technical student organizations; credit equivalency information; vocational license requirements; and a list of teachers' frequently asked questions.
