The Head Start and Early Head Start programs are comprehensive child development programs, serving children from birth to age five, expectant mothers, and families with the goal of increasing the social competence of children in low-income families and children with disabilities, and improve their chances of success in school. This report describes the objectives of Head Start, Early Head Start and related early child development programs in North Dakota, including the Head Start Association, and the Collaboration Office. The report presents information on the Head Start administration in North Dakota, and describes program options and program elements such as current eligibility criteria, health services, education, parent involvement, family services, and parent and staff training opportunities.
