Citizen Action. Teacher's Guide to World Resources. Comprehensive Coursework on the Global Environment.
Snyder, Sarah A.
This teacher's guide presents teaching suggestions and presentation materials about citizen action in the global environment. Focusing on the nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), the lessons describe the roles NGOs play in positively influencing future trends in social development, natural resources management, and environmental quality. NGOs are defined using examples from the local, regional, state, national, and international levels. The unit is designed for four class periods with lessons entitled: (1) "General Discussion of NGOs"; (2) "Three Case Studies"; (3) "Components of Citizen Action: A Local Issue"; and (4) "Concluding Activity." Student handouts are included for classroom use. (EH)
