This factbook presents graphs and statistical tables summarizing the characteristics of California students attending public and independent colleges and universities as well as trends in these characteristics, including enrollment, transfer, and program completion. The report is divided into six sections: (1) high school students - information about the number of public and private high school graduates, their origin and academic preparation by region, and their college-going rates; (2) all postsecondary students - information about total student enrollment in California's colleges and universities including comparative data over the last decade; (3) first-time freshmen - data regarding their college-going rates in the California public sector as well as demographic data and a comparison with freshmen in the whole country; (4) transfer students - data on students transferring from community colleges to California universities as well as from other systems; (5) student outcomes - e.g., number of degrees and certificates, graduation rates, and student attrition; and (6) area-specific student data - high school graduates and college-going rates by California county and on community college transfer students.
