This document describes a review of the North Allegheny (Pennsylvania) School District's Family and Consumer Sciences curriculum in order to develop a program that will meet students' needs to integrate family, work, and citizenship. They cover the following curriculum areas: (1) curriculum revision; (2) independent living skills; (3) diversity; (4) student organizations; (5) technology; (6) substance abuse resistance training; (7) human growth and development; (8) child care; (9) nutrition and healthy lifestyles; (10) instructional time; (11) community outreach; and (12) after-school program. Extensive appendices contain the following: program philosophy; strands; goals and terminal competencies; course scope and sequence; data from the survey, site visits, symposium, and focus group; Future Homemakers of America/Home Economics Related Occupations competencies; state standards and assessment; certificate of terminal competency in child care; community outreach letters; department meetings; and annotated bibliography of 27 references.
