This book, written from a British perspective, offers several sets of teaching strategies at the university level strategies for acquiring information, for working with information to enhance understanding, for confirming learning, and for student self-management. In the first part, "Learning and Teaching at University," chapters cover various perspectives of learning and teaching, the theoretical framework of learning, how to teach learning strategies, and how assessment affects learning. The next part, "Learning and Teaching Strategies," cover strategies for acquiring information, for working with information, for confirming learning, for personal management, and teaching. The final section describes a staff development program developed and implemented by a group of 14 university teachers. It includes five case studies from different subject areas science, language studies, early childhood education, accounting, and information science, which describe the teachers' personal experiences.
