National Survey of EE Teacher Inservice Education.
Wade, Kim
This document reports the findings of a survey of EE (environmental education) coordinators in all 50 states and the District of Columbia in order to better understand the current practice of EE teacher inservice education and to identify critical, future directions for inservice programs. Survey results suggest there are vital gaps. To improve the quality and scope of EE teacher inservice education, and ultimately EE for students K-12, efforts are needed that: (1) promote EE staff development, (2) communicate more effectively the interdisciplinary nature of EE, (3) involve a greater diversity of teachers and trainers, and (4) link EE with the priorities of state education agencies through education reform. Appendices include the summary of results from each state and the questionnaire used in the survey. (Author/MKR)
