Alabama English, v1-8 1989-96
These 1989-1996 issues of "Alabama English" contain articles that address current theory and practice in the teaching of reading, writing, and literature at any grade level. The first two issues focus specifically on the teaching of writing. The third issue is a special issue featuring Alabama authors, while the fourth issue presents articles on a variety of topics--from writing tutorials to multilingual book corners. The fifth issue addresses the following questions: "What is Education?"; "What is worth knowing?"; and "How can teachers invite students to become active participants in the learning process?" The sixth issue is devoted to literature in the classroom. The seventh issue is a double issue, presenting a variety of articles diverse in topic and type. The eighth issue, also double, considers the theme of diversity. The ninth issue addresses noncanonical literature, while the tenth focuses on Alabama women writers. The last issue of the run contains articles on folktales, children's literature, teaching difficult materials, and Shakespeare's "As You Like It." Some issues contain teaching tips and book reviews.
