Project Tune-Up: A New Look at Project Prepare. Final Report. 1994-1995.
Central Intermediate Unit 10, Pleasant Gap, PA.
This document includes a report on Project Tune-Up, which was conducted to update Project Prepare, a program to help Pennsylvania adult learners prepare for business school entrance examinations, the PSB [Pennsylvania State Board]-Aptitude for Practical Nursing examination, and college placement examinations. The report describes how the Project Prepare curricula were updated, revised, and pilot tested with 10 students who had completed the licensed practical nursing (LPN) program and were preparing to take the PSB test. The students were administered the simulated PSB test that was developed for Project Prepare and revised for Project Tune-Up. In the three test sections of the PSB reviewed, students' actual PSB scores showed an average decline of 3.8% from scores obtained on the simulated test, which was considered a typical difference in performance on simulated and actual tests. Following the final report is the Project Tune-Up study program, which contains the following: information about the Project Tune-Up study program and guidelines for using it; the simulated business school aptitude test, LPN examination, and college placement tests for mathematics and English; English, vocabulary, and spelling exercises to help students prepare for the examinations; and a 10-item bibliography.
