Modified Occupational Completion Points in Vocational Education for Students with Disabilities with Examples from Automotive Technologies, Commercial Foods, Data Entry, and Environmental Horticulture.
Florida State Dept. of Education, Tallahassee. Div. of Public Schools.; Florida State Dept. of Education, Tallahassee. Div. of Applied Tech. and Adult Education.
This guide was developed to help teachers and administrators in vocational education programs (especially in Florida) to develop modified occupational completion points for students with disabilities. Modified occupational points (MOCPs) are selected sets of student performance standards within a vocational job preparatory program. These selected standards provide the opportunity for students to complete a modified program and to develop marketable skills leading to competitive employment. Modified occupational completion points fall between established occupational completion points as identified in curriculum frameworks. The guide is organized in five sections. Part 1 explains the concept of occupational completion points, defines them, provides a rationale and guiding principles, and discusses Individualized Education Plans, reporting, and certification in the context of Modified Occupational Completion Points. Parts 2-5 provide examples of the application of MOCPs in the following areas: the automotive technologies cluster, the environmental horticulture science and services cluster, the data entry vocational program, and the commercial foods vocational program. Each section includes job descriptions and student examples of applications of MOCPs in that field. Three appendixes provide course modifications rules; sample MOCPs in environmental horticulture; and sample blank student performance profiles, rating forms, and competency certificate. (KC)
