Francais langue seconde trousse d'evaluation. Tests modeles pour les course: French 20 (intermediare 4/5), French 30 (intermediare 5/6) = French as a Second Language Evaluation Resource Package. Model Tests for Courses: French 20 (Intermediate 4/5), French 30 (Intermediate 5/6).
Alberta Dept. of Education, Edmonton. Language Services Branch.
This evaluation package contains two model tests, one for the Alberta (Canada) French 20 course (intermediate 4/5) and one for French 30 (intermediate 5/6). The tests were designed for holistic evaluation of high school students' language performance based on an experiential/communicative approach. They allow teachers to obtain a sampling of student performance in each curriculum area for evaluation and diagnosis. An introductory section gives an overview of test development, beginning with identification of a theme that integrates the areas of experience evaluated. Language content and skills to be tested are derived from the prescribed French curriculum. Also in this section, key terminology is defined. The document consists of four main parts: an administration guide for each of the two tests, and the test booklets themselves (reproducible). Each test administration guide includes a chart of the test's design, directions for its use, an annotated version of the test, oral text transcripts (recordings not included here), a correction guide, notes on analysis of results, and a table of specifications. The test booklets consist of instructions on pre-test procedures, specific instructions for each test section, describing the situation, communicative task, and test procedures, and the test materials. Instructions are in English; test items are in French. (MSE)
