Taft Group, Rockville, MD.; American Library Association, Chicago, IL.
Libraries facing diminishing budgets and increasing demand for services must explore all funding sources, especially the more than $6 billion available in annual foundation and corporate giving. The easier and greater access to information on prospective givers provided simplifies this task. It profiles 1,471 library grant givers, compiled from The Taft group's up-to-the-minute database of almost 9,000 top private-sector givers. Only organizations that have either already funded library programs or have expressed a willingness to consider proposals from libraries are included. Each profile contains: sponsoring company information, contact person, financial summary, contributions summary, corporate and program officers, application information, recommendations for sources of additional information such as application guidelines and annual reports, grant analysis, and recent grants. Indexes include foundations and corporations by headquarters state, foundations and corporations by operating locations, officers and directors, and grant recipients by state. An introductory chapter offers practical tips from ALA's Development Office and an index of recent library projects funded by the givers is provided. (MAS)
