This set of checklists in separate English- and Spanish-language versions, is designed to help parents and childcare providers determine through observations a child's developmental progress from birth to age 5. The checklists are excerpted from the "Slow and Steady, Get Me Ready" guidebook, written by a retired kindergarten teacher with 25 years of experience. The preface to the checklists cautions that evaluation of the child should allow for different growth patterns, that each child is unique with different personalities and needs, and that young children learn best when presented with only one concept at a time. The checklists cover developmental milestones for birth to 6 months of age, 6 to 12 months, and each year from 1 to 5 years. Scoring criteria are included. (HTH)
