This teaching guide is part of a series of materials developed, with input from adult learners, to aid adult literacy teachers in incorporating health education into the curriculum. This guide aims to help teachers to provide adult students with information about sexual abuse, its effects, and prevention. The guide provides the goals and objectives of the course; it is organized in 12 sections that cover the following topics: policy development, staff assessment, staff training, lesson preparation, rape and sexual abuse, common myths regarding sexual abuse, feelings felt by a sexual abuse victim, how to help a friend who has been sexually abused, what to do if someone is raped, basic safety information, prevention tips for adults and teens, and child sexual abuse prevention.
