This document consists of a compilation of partnership activities and programs relating to dropout prevention. Emphasis is placed on activities occurring in Florida, although there are some national organizations and programs highlighted in the report. The report is intended to provide the reader with an awareness of the different ways partnerships are being used in dropout prevention activities. Contact information for those persons who can furnish more in-depth information on each of the activities is included. A brief introductory section defines a dropout and notes that 32.62% of Florida's entering high school freshmen do not graduate from high school. This section is followed by a list of characteristics of dropouts. The major sections of the report focus on national dropout prevention organizations and activities; national private sector dropout prevention initiatives and partnership activities; Florida organizations and dropout prevention activities; dropout prevention programs and partnership activities of Florida's postsecondary institutions; and selected dropout prevention programs and partnership activities of Florida school districts, arranged by county. For each organization/activity, the name and address of the project are given, along with information on the contact person and a brief description of the project.
