Florida Vocational Programs of Study.
Florida State Univ., Tallahassee. Center for Instructional Development and Services.
This document provides models to guide counselors and secondary students in tailoring programs of study that will allow students to pursue both employment and postsecondary education after graduation. Information on how to use the document to produce a program of study is accompanied by a chart that presents an overview of the entire process. The document then provides information and sample programs of study for clusters of programs, not for individual vocational programs. These programs of study for clusters should prove useful to students who are not sure of which vocational program to select. Cluster information sheets show which courses are common to several vocational programs. Nine program areas are included: agriculture, business, diversified occupations, health occupations, home economics, industrial, marketing, public service, and technology. The first page of each program area lists clusters. A vocational cluster information sheet for each cluster provides vocational courses sequences for this cluster, strongly recommended academic courses, suggested electives, recommended experiences or activities, and career information (lists of occupations students could enter following graduation from high school or postsecondary school). A program of study worksheet showing courses by grade level is also provided for each cluster. A sample information packet to help districts design their own marketing materials is appended. (YLB)
