This volume provides comparative data for faculty salaries in public and private colleges, based on an annual survey of over 600 colleges and universities. Data cover the following disciplines: Engineering Related Technologies, Foreign Languages, Geography, Geology, History, Home Economics, Letters, Library and Archival Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Multi-Interdisciplinary Studies, Music, Nursing, Philosophy and Religion, and Physical Education. Presented for each discipline is a summary of the overall average salary increase between the baseline year of 1988-89 and the trend year, 1991-92, for both public and private institutions. Data from institutions participating in both years are compared with each other and with the consumer price index. Also included are average salaries by rank and the faculty mix percentage as well as comparisons with other disciplines and between the public and private institutions.
