This document contains descriptions of 66 adult education experimental demonstration projects and 18 adult education staff development projects conducted in Pennsylvania in fiscal year 1992. The projects are funded through Section 353 of the Adult Education Act of 1988. Each description includes a project number, project costs, contact person with address, abstract, expected products, and project descriptors. The projects address various needs related to adult basic education instruction, General Educational Development test preparation, English-as-a-Second-Language instruction, family literacy, and workplace literacy. Some representative projects include the following: assessing individuals with learning differences, problems, and disabilities; auditory aspects of reading/writing instruction; closed caption application for adult literacy students; computer connections; deaf adult literacy tutor handbook revision; developing new reader support groups through book discussions; math without fears; international booklet of idioms and recipes; bringing good coping skills materials to more adult students; study skills for single parents; success stories--from learning to earning; meeting the needs of the adult low-level reader; national issues forums--citizenship through literacy; staff and board development; and training on domestic violence issues for adult basic education/literacy instructors and counselors.
