Four tables present public school enrollment data in the United States for the 1989-90 and 1990-91 school years. The first table presents total state enrollments, arranged alphabetically, for the 2 years. The total public school enrollment in 1989-90 was 40,632,578, and that in 1990-91 was 41,068,125. The second table presents, for 147 counties nationwide, increases of 1,000 students or more in descending order by variance. The third table compares the enrollment decreases of 1,000 students or more for 49 selected counties, arranged in descending order by variance. The fourth table arranges county enrollment variances for both years for 197 selected counties in descending order of variance within each state. (SLD)
