This module is the first of nine modules in the competency-based Missouri Auto Mechanics Curriculum Guide. Seven units cover: automotive chemicals and their use; basic automotive hand tools; specialty tools, fasteners, and precision measuring tools; power tools and shop equipment; safety clothing and equipment; shop operation; and careers in auto mechanics. Introductory materials include a competency profile and cross-reference table that shows how competencies relate to instructional objectives and test items. Each unit consists of some or all of these components: objective sheet with unit and specific objectives; cover sheet with content outline and list of references; information sheets; assignment sheets; and unit test with answer key.
