Smoot, Joseph G.
The report of the Pittsburg State University (Kansas) development program for fiscal year (FY) 1989 addresses the annual fund, the campaign for distinction, the Pittsburg State University (PSU) Foundation, and development plans for FY 1990. The university strives to provide additional private funding to supplement state support. Total private support for FY 1989 was $2,495,876, an increase of $493,340 from FY 1988. There were 3,058 alumni donors. An additional $38,727 was received from foundation support. Of cash gifts, bequests accounted for $483,425 while business support came to $643,457. The annual fund ($622,416) declined slightly from the previous year. The PSU Foundation investment funds were over $7,000,000. PSU's development program ranked in the top 25% of peer institutions and in the top 15% of those ranked by dollars raised per student. Appendixes include annual development calendars; tables showing comparisons with other schools; annual fund and capital campaign policy statements; information on contributing organizations, matching gift companies, business contributors, office of research proposals and grants, and bequests to PSU; a phonothon report; PSU Foundation by-laws; and lists of alumni trustees, chapter officers, and volunteers serving on various boards and advisory councils.
