Access Skills. Generic Informal Assessment Instruments and Checklist. Missouri LINC. Accessing Vocational Education.
Missouri Univ., Columbia. Dept. of Practical Arts and Vocational-Technical Education.; Missouri Univ., Columbia. Dept. of Special Education.
This document contains informal assessment instruments for each of the access skills (those skills needed to access vocational education programs and be successful in the world of work) on Missouri's Vocational Readiness Skills Inventory for Special Needs Students. The document includes a checklist for documenting the informal assessments, which are intended to give teachers estimates of students' abilities so that appropriate individual programming goals can be set. Following a matrix that shows which access skills are required in which vocational programs, the introduction explains this document's relationship to other documents about Missouri vocational education. The next sextion explains the access skills chart that appeared earlier and the use of the Generic Assessment Access Skills checklist that follows. The next six sections contain assessment tasks designed to help teachers assess students' access skills in the five major areas of the inventory: math skills, physical demands and working environment, aptitudes, temperament, and vocational safety. The assessment tasks include paper and pencil measures, suggested activities and materials, and student and parent interviews and checklists. A five-item bibliography completes the document. (CML)
