Access Skills. Employability and Study Skills Assessment and Curriculum Guide. Missouri LINC. Accessing Vocational Education.
Flanagan, Malcolm; Johnson, Jodi
This document contains materials teachers may use for informal assessment of Missouri seventh-grade special needs students' employability and study skills and for teaching within the existing curriculum those skills the students may lack. An introduction defines and lists employability and study skills and contains cross-references to assessment and curriculum materials. The second section contains the instruments for assessing students' skills in four component areas: communication, numerical, social, and work. Teacher worksheets, student worksheets or rating scales, and student assessment record forms are included, along with instructions on their use. The next four sections are instructional modules on, respectively, communication, numerical, social, and work skills. Each module consists of the following components: (1) task analysis sheets, which contain the sequential steps necessary for competence in a specific skill; (2) instructional directions, which suggest how to teach each step in the task analysis and include a list of resources needed; (3) student and teacher worksheets; and (4) student assessment record form.
