Student Data Report. Oklahoma Higher Education 1987-88.
Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Oklahoma City.
The sixth annual publication of comprehensive student data derived from the Oklahoma State Regents' United Data System is presented. The report provides primary measures of student involvement in higher education in the following seven sections: introduction; movement into college; enrollments; student distribution; student progression; student transfer; and financial aid. In one major respect, this report differs from previous ones of similar nature because its tables and figures are mainly summaries of existing and often vastly comprehensive data reports. Thus, it is not only a self-contained document but an index to sources of comprehensive data that could be useful to state system administrators. Among the important enrollment statistics and trends are the following: females continue a trend and outnumbered males in 1987-88 by a ratio of 53 to 47; public institutions' full-time equivalent enrollments were up 0.7% in 1987-88 over 1986-87; public institutions' fall 1987 headcount enrollments were next to the highest in a decade, exceeded only by fall 1983; the enrollment of nonresident aliens in public institutions continues to decline; Oklahomans comprised 91% of the students in the public sector in fall 1987; loans continued to increase as sources of financial aid dollars in 1986-87 while student employment continued to decline.
