Developed for senior high school social studies classes, this Alberta (Canada) curriculum guide provides: (1) a social studies program rationale and philosophy; (2) social studies education's goals and objectives; (3) a general statement of the content and time allotment of required and elective social studies courses; and (4) evaluation guidelines. The theme of this social studies curriculum, "Canada in the Modern World," is presented through two units of study developed for both the Social Studies 10 and 13 levels: challenges for Canada in the 20th century, and citizenship in Canada. Each of the four units contains: (1) a description; (2) critical and creative thinking goals; (3) a list of issues and questions; (4) course content objectives; (5) a chart of specific learning objectives; (6) a list of skill objectives; and (7) a statement of student attitude objectives.
