The Minnesota Program for Victims of Sexual Assault conducted a 9-month training program for racial minority human service professionals from September 1983 through May 1984. The objectives of the project were to improve the identification, intervention, and treatment of sexual assault victims and their families. The project targeted Blacks, American Indians, and Hispanics. This report, which documents the project, is divided into three parts. Part 1 provides background information. Part 2 describes the trainee selection process and program format, and specifically reviews the topic content and mode of presentation of each of the following segments of the training program: (1) sexual attitude reassessment seminar; (2) historical and cultural factors; (3) the system's response to sexual abuse; (4) victimization of children outside the family; (5) incest--family sexual abuse; (6) treatment of perpetrators; (7) sexual assault of adults; (8) prevention; (9) networking and community organizing; (10) mini-sessions; and (11) final banquet. Resource and audiovisual materials used in the course are listed. Part 3 analyzes the impact of the training program using participants' tests and evaluations.
