This annotated bibliography reviews 41 pieces of educational software that are marketed for use in basic reading and conversational English programs. A variety of educational games, drill and practice programs, tutorials, problem-solving programs, and utility and authoring systems is included. Reading, math, writing, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, journalism, letter recognition, science, and geography are among the subject areas covered by the individual programs. Each review contains some or all of the following: product name; publisher; cost; publication date; hardware requirements; reading level; interest level; subject area; program type; target audience (student, administrative, individual, group); ratings of the program's user-friendliness, thematic relevance to adults, worth for adult beginning readers, clarity of documentation, and ease of management; comments; and an annotation.
