Compiled by members of the Reading Committee of the North Middlesex Regional School District (Massachusetts), this illustrated guide provides tips, suggestions, and activities that parents can follow at home to help their children read. The Clues about Reading Enrichment (CARE) guide notes that regularly reading aloud to and with children is an important way for parents to help improve children's reading, writing, and thinking skills, and at the same time to enhance the parent-child bond. Titles of chapters in the guide are as follows: (1) "Creating a Reading-Learning Environment"; (2) "Vocabulary Activities"; (3) "Listening Activities"; (4) "Writing Activities"; and (5) "Comprehension Activities." Appendixes include interest inventories that parents can use to select interesting reading materials for their children, a copy of the Clues about Reading Enrichment survey, and a bibliography. (SKC)
