Intended for speech teachers and classroom teachers who work with elementary school children, this guide focuses on the sequential development of oral language skills and related skills. Following an introduction is a brief orientation lesson guide designed to interest children in the speech program and introduce the basic forms of communication. The next several sections provide activities for the following: (1) listening; (2) the speech mechanism; (3) voice; (4) choral speaking; (5) pantomime; (6) theater games; (7) creative dramatics; (8) story telling; (9) social interaction and usage; (10) speech sounds; and (11) multimedia materials. Each language arts section contains a rationale, and the guides for activities. All sections list necessary materials, objectives, and culminating and follow-up activities.
