The first section of this report provides information comparing selected dropout data from the Virginia State Department of Education's publication "Facing Up" for the years 1980-1985. The report states that the comparisons were made to show the need to continue efforts to reduce the number of dropouts and to provide programs for those who have already dropped out. The second section of the report provides information from a 1985 dropout survey. Listed are those school divisions in Virginia which reported having programs/activities to prevent dropouts and those having programs/activities for students who have already dropped out. Succinct phrases identifying activities are supplied. A contact person for each school division is listed. The third section summarizes information from the July 1985 Virginia dropout survey, including number of reports, expenditures, courses, activities/programs, and successful activities. The dropout survey questionnaire and rankings of school divisions by dropout rates are included. (ABL)
