Cultural Institution NETWORK Menu, 1986-87. Gifted and Talented Unit.
New York City Board of Education, Brooklyn, NY. Div. of Curriculum and Instruction.
The cultural institutions of New York City are among the most valuable of the city's many resources. Its museums, libraries, historic sites, environmental centers, zoos, botanic gardens, and cultural centers provide a wealth of educational opportunities. To ensure that the resources and programs of these cultural institutions are made easily accessible to participating schools, the Cultural Institution NETWORK has been created as a component of the Citywide Gifted Programs Framework and reflects the educational philosophy of the Enrichment Triad Model. This publication serves as a reference tool which describes the programs, services, and educational materials available through each participating cultural group. The programs and services developed by participating cultural institutions and organizations promote experiences which encourage exposure, process training and thinking skills, and student product development. In addition to publicizing these facilities, this easy-access guide provides teachers with all the information necessary for arranging a successful field trip. (LHW)
