Prevocational Education Planning, Implementing, Teaching and Evaluating.
Moore, E. Cortez
Prevocational education is a group guidance program designed to develop students' self-awareness, to provide them with knowledge and experiences in a variety of different occupations, and to help them understand the function of education and the relationship of career opportunities during the career decision-making process. This guide provides an alternative for local education agencies' personnel in South Carolina involved in planning, implementing, teaching, and evaluating prevocational education programs or engaged in maintaining and improving existing programs. The guide is organized into eight sections that cover the following topics: South Carolina State Board policies for prevocational education programs, planning and implementing curriculum and instructional programs, teaching methods and techniques for prevocational education, teaching disadvantaged and handicapped students, identifying student abilities and occupation requirements, guidance services and procedures, and program standards and evaluation criteria. Appendixes to the guide provide definitions of terms and program objectives and describe the prevocational education delivery-return system, staff development, and factors influencing vocational choice.
