Romany Grammar.
Kepaski, Krume; Jusuf, Shaip
An English translation of a grammar of the language used by the Roma, a group of wanderers living in many countries, united by a common language, and often called Bohemians or gypsies, begins with a translator's preface concerning the group's history and the development of the language and dialects. Preliminary material contains a brief history of the Roma and their language presented in both English and Romany. An introductory section describes the Romany alphabet and sound system and basic facts of grammar. Subsequent sections outline in detail the principles of the declension system, derivational morphology, pronouns, numbers, verb tenses and characteristics, indeclinable words, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, particles, orthography, syntax, grammatical agreement, complex sentence structure, and punctuation. A 67-page Romany-to-English glossary is also included. (MSE)
