Does the Tarkio College Education Department's Program Meet the Needs of Prospective Teachers? The Findings as Reported by Tarkio College Graduates 1980-84.
Probst, David A.; Vitters, Richard D.
Graduates from the Tarkio College (Missouri) school of education were surveyed in an effort to assess the worth of the core course program required of all education majors. Eleven responses were received. The areas included in the questionnaire were career information, required course information, elementary certification information, pre-student teaching and student teaching information, and general information on the strengths and weaknesses of the department. Section one of this report discusses responses to questions relating to the graduates' teaching experiences. The second section reports findings on responses giving opinions on required courses. In the third section, responses to the questions on courses and objectives within the course which were required to obtain certification are discussed. The fourth section of the questionnaire addresses the course of studies required before student teaching. The final section reports opinions on how the education department can better meet the needs of future students. A copy of the questionnaire and cover letter and tabulation results are appended. (JD)
