A bibliography on education of physicians for primary care is presented, based on a search of the "Index Medicus" primarily for the period 1971-1983. Selected articles from 1984 are also included. The approximately 60 references are listed alphabetically by the lead author's surname. A major feature of the bibliography is the keywording of each reference to provide markers regarding the content of individual articles. A description of the keywording system and a display of the keywords and their groups are included. The keywords are probably best used in a computer or word processor system where they can be sorted. There are 34 keywords, placed into six groups chosen for commonality within each group (sample keywords in parentheses): (1) level (student, resident), (2) field (Internal Medicine, Pediatrics), (3) curriculum (Geriatrics, Behavioral Science), (4) sites (hospital inpatient, preceptorship), (5) issues (faculty, financing), and (6) manpower (career choices, minorities).
