Created to evaluate the effects of placement training for persons with developmental disabilities, the Competitive Employment Implementation Scale (CEIS) measures training participants' acceptance of responsibility for effecting competitive employment for their clients. Thirty-seven participants in competitive employment workshops and participants in a comparison group were administered the CEIS. Results, measured by dependent t-tests, indicated significant attitudinal change toward acceptance of placement duties for persons attending the workshops. No significant difference was found for the comparison group. The competitive employment workshop demonstrated that factual information combined with local business assessment can produce an improvement in participant attitude toward placement in competitive employment for clients with disabilities.
