Results of the Alberta, Canada Grade 12 Diploma Examinations Program are presented for the January 1985 test administration. All twelfth grade students are required to pass at least one of these tests in order to receive a high school diploma. Some students also receive course credit by passing the appropriate examination. Examinations are available for grades 10, 11, and 12. Two types of diplomas are awarded, the General and the Advanced High School Diploma. An Award of Excellence is awarded to students achieving high scores on the diploma examinations. The bulk of this document consists of test results for the seven examinations: (1) English 30, administered to 7,986 students; (2) English 33, 4,308 students; (3) Social Studies 30, 7,760 students; (4) Mathematics 30, 7,954 students; (5) Biology 30, 6,230 students; (6) Chemistry 30, 5,955 students; and (7) Physics 30, 2,962 students. All tests include both multiple choice and written response or essay items; French-language tests are also available. The grades assigned to students scoring in particular ranges are given, as well as the percentage of students scoring in that range. Average scores and standard deviations are also included. (GDC)
