Designed as an aid in evaluating the past academic year by summarizing and consolidating college and districtwide information, this annual report provides technical information about the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). Following a District overview and data summary, the bulk of the report consists of tables and figures focusing on demographic characteristics, attendance patterns, student and enrollment characteristics, instructional programs, student performance and articulation, student support services, and fiscal and personnel resources. Descriptions and discussions are provided of each table and figure. The highlights of the report include the following: (1) the LACCD enrolled 119,569 students in fall 1983; (2) the ethnic distribution of the District's population was 45% White, 31% Hispanic, 15% Black, 7% Asian and 1% other; (3) there was an increase in the enrollment of minorities, women, and older and part-time students over the past 10 years; (4) ten major disciplines accounted for 81% of all duplicated enrollment; (5) grade achievement improved for 1983-84; (6) services to special student groups declined between fall 1982 and 1983; and (7) general fund expenditures budgeted were reduced by 9% from 1982-83 and the general fund income declined 10%.
