State of Iowa Scope and Sequence for Vocational Home Economics.
Iowa State Dept. of Public Instruction, Des Moines. Div. of Career Education.
This scope and sequence guide for vocational home economics programs in Iowa discusses the most important dimensions of the program and describes the general purposes of programs along with factors that affect them, both in general and for Iowa specifically. The introductory chapter of the guide sets the context and the mission and also includes a description of the scope and sequence charts and a listing of the descriptive material that follows the charts. The introductory chapter is followed by scope and sequence charts on child development; clothing and textiles; family life and parenting; food and nutrition; housing, home furnishings, and equipment; and management and consumer economics. The third section of the guide focuses on planning and organizing the curriculum, and includes suggestions for articulation of home economics classes, an illustrated scope and sequence chart (showing suggested applications for various levels of students), and a scope and sequence work chart (a blank form for the instructor's use). The final section of the guide describes program components such as Future Homemakers of America/Home Economics Related Occupations (FHA/HERO), outreach, technology, and educational equity. (KC)
