Children's Audio Service, Chapel Hill, NC.
Intended for anyone interested in providing children with a quality alternative to current children's broadcast programing, this report presents the results of a survey of radio listening habits and attitudes. The report's introduction describes development of a pilot radio program for children by Children's Audio Service (CAS) unit of the Southern Educational Communications Association (SECA) that was subsequently distributed to all National Public Radio stations. The first section of the report then discusses the results of a survey of children, parents, and station representatives conducted before and after broadcast of "East of the Sun, West of the Moon." The second section of the report relates a variety of lessons learned by CAS during the production and evaluation of the radio program. (HTH)
