Integration Strategies for Students with Moderate and Severe Handicaps.
Maurer, Steve, Ed.
Intended to help those interested in preparing a plan for integration of students with moderate and severe handicaps, the manual presents a compilation of journal articles, book excerpts, and other materials on practical integration approaches. The initial section addresses philosophical issues in integration of severely handicapped students. Integration strategies are the focus of the second section, which covers such topics as faculty preparation, factors in designing an integration plan, and ways in which educational programs can foster community involvement for severely handicapped students. The concluding section, on resources, includes an annotated bibliography for young people and a series of bibliographies on systems change and on the effects of integration on children (including their attitudes and interactions, social skill development, and peer tutoring).
