School Staffing Ratios, 1984-85. ERS Report.

This is a companion study to the 1984-85 National Survey of Salaries and Wages in Public Schools. This study provides data on staffing ratios by four enrollment groupings of school systems and by five per pupil expenditure levels of school systems. Its purpose is to provide schools with data useful for comparing staffing ratios for their own system with those in systems of similar enrollment size and expenditure levels. It provides indepth analysis of staffing data and meaningful comparisons of staffing ratios both within enrollment categories and in expenditure categories. The report includes 2 summary tables showing the mean number of pupils and the mean number of teachers per professional and per administrative staff member in the reporting systems; 21 tables showing percentile, distributions, means, and ranges of pupil-staff and teacher-staff ratios by enrollment groups; and 21 tables showing the percentile distributions, means, and ranges of staffing ratios by per-pupil expenditure level and enrollment group.
