A survey of nonformal community education activities was conducted to determine specific use of media for identified educational and informational purposes. The results presented in this report are intended to provide resource information to professionals and paraprofessionals who ultimately may be employed in Learning Resource Center-Based Community Education System (LRCBCES) programs in Latin America. Materials provided include sections on: (1) instructional technology and the systematic approach to learning; (2) the systematic approach and the LRCBCES project; (3) the broadcast media; (4) media and the LRCBCES approach; and (5) media utilization: print, motion pictures, video, audio, pictoral (still), symbolic, graphic, dramatic, interpersonal, 3-D, and real. Related readings are listed for each chapter, and appendices include a world-wide directory of organizations working with instructional technology in developing countries and a list of useful periodicals.
